Why Our Country Is Hooked on Acid…..

What color would you use to describe your body, inside and out? RED or GREEN (well, not literally, except in the case of red!)?

When you look in the mirror, do you see a red face, or red iritated skin? What do you think it would it look like if you could see INSIDE your body?

How many babies, children or adults do you know that take medicine for GERD or heartburn? Reflux? Achy or inflamed joints? Arthritis? Acne? Skin diseases or any other disease that “requires” daily large doses of cortisone to reduce inflammation?

In 2009, doctors wrote 113.6 million prescriptions for PPI’s (proton pump inhibitors) alone. This obviously does not include the millions that are purchased over the counter.

 The big question is: are they curing the problem or just masking the symptoms?

I recently had an interesting conversation with an older male friend who had been put on medication for heartburn/reflux or “too much acid”. His esophagus was always on “fire”.

After his second doctor informed him his problem was not reflux but rotting food still in his gut that was causing all the acidity, he choose to take a different path. He got off the medication he had been taking (with his doctor’s approval), switched to natural supplements, made a few diet changes and now ALL of his symptoms are gone. This is not uncommon.

HIS BODY WAS ON RED MODE: TOO MUCH JUNK FOOD and FATTY PROTEIN MAKES YOUR BODY INFLAMED AND THROWS YOUR BODY’S OWN ENZYMES OUT OF WHACK.

As a nation, we eat way too much junk food and fatty protein, and most of us don’t even know that we can get adequate protein and calcium from veggies if we eat enough of them.

What’s the OPPOSITE of red for our bodies? You guessed it: GREEN.

VEGGIES, especially the green ones, which are the best for you, are alkaline (the opposite of acid) and reduce the inflammation in our bodies, which many doctors now believe is the root of all disease.

                                                                                                    JUNK FOOD= INFLAMMATION= RED= ILLNESS.

So for 2018, make it your resolution to look for more GREEN for your family. Whether it’s juicing once a day with anti- inflammatory fruits and veggies to get the maximum nutrients in your body, cutting back on all the heavy meats and cheeses that are so acidic, or just adding more fruits and veggies to your daily diet, it’s time to make a change.

Your body and your wallet will thank you.
